Eyes of a Blue Dog at Bishopsgate Institute

Vortex City Sessions

At The Bishopsgate Institute, London

Nils Petter Molvaer

Nils Petter Molvaer has alongside Sweden’s Esbjörn Svensson and Norway’s Bugge Wesselthoff changed the face of improvised music in Europe in the past decade.
His debut album Khmer (ECM) sold over 250,000 copies worldwide and established his reputation as one of the leading voices of the new European jazz movement. Now working with Stian Westerhus on guitar and Erland Dahlen on drums; the NPM sound has also changed stylistically by integrating more indie-rock and alternative elements into the music.
Travelling with the trio is lighting designer Tord Knudsen who will once again enthral audiences with his spectacular light show that accompanies all of Nils Petter Molvaer’s quadrophonic shows.
Please note that this event will be standing only.

Eyes of a Blue Dog

Eyes of a Blue Dog is a refreshing new collaboration between the North London LOOP Collective trumpeter Rory Simmons (also on electric guitar and electronic treatments), the renowned Norwegian drummer and ambient electronics soundscaper Terje Evensen and upcoming UK-based singer-lyricist Elisabeth Nygård.
Together they take elements from underground electro-pop song, post-rock and an austere electronica of the kind that has roots in the experimental jazz and improvisation scene out of which trumpeter Simmons and the ex-Leeds based LIMA Collective vocalist Nygård have successfully emerged.
